Michigan State Star Cassius Winston's Brother Dies After Being Struck by Train
By Adam Weinrib

Mere weeks after Cassius Winston's Michigan State Spartans traveled to D-III Albion College to play an exhibition match against a team featuring his brothers, Khy and Zachary, one member of the Winston clan is gone.
Zachary, a sophomore at Albion, was struck and killed by an oncoming Amtrak train at 8:41 p.m. on Saturday night. He was 19 years old.

According to the Albion Chief of Public Safety, Winston stepped in front of the train as it approached a pedestrian crosswalk. https://t.co/VFK5X8r20q
Zachary was sidelined with an injury for his final reunion with Cassius on the court on Oct. 29, as well.

According to the Chief of Safety at Albion College, a pedestrian, later identified as Winston, stepped directly in front of the train as it plowed through a crosswalk.
Winston had returned to on-court action this past week, and had three points, two steals, and two assists in 15 minutes of game action against Mount Union.
The younger Winston was no stranger to controversy on campus; he and his roommate M.J. Barnes reported that swastikas and racist messages had been drawn on their whiteboard since this past December.

Cassius will now have to regroup under unspeakable circumstances. The Naismith Player of the Year candidate watched his Spartans suffer an early loss to Kentucky in their opener, and will now face an unrivaled set of personal demons.
He was spotted on the bench prior to Sunday night's game against Binghamton, comforted by teammates.
