Mickey Callaway's Comment After Latest Mets Loss Shows Stunning Lack of Urgency

After losing their last four games, all of which were to the two lowest standing teams in the NL East, New York Mets team manager Mike Callaway seemed a little bit too relaxed.
Woah. Mickey Callaway does not seem to grasp the concept of urgency after responding to a question about tomorrow's game being a must-win with this answer:

“I don’t think anything is a must-win until Game 7 of the World Series," he said.
Of course everyone understands that these games aren't the World Series. But given the circumstances surrounding the team and his job, he might want to have a little more urgency in getting a win and getting the team back on track.
I mean the way the Mets are playing, World Series urgency may never be a problem for Callaway for multiple reasons.
#Mets lose. One hit against the now 12-31 Miami #Marlins.

One. Hit.
They have lost a series to the 12-31 Miami Marlins. The Mets have lost 20 of their last 31 games.
Rock, meet bottom.
Something has to give.
For one, at this pace it would take a whole lot for the Mets to even get into contention for a National League pennant.
Second, Callaway's job is not exactly what people would call secure. Although a manager change may not fix the Mets' problems, it could mean a step in the right direction.
The last Mets manager to get fired in-season was Willie Randolph in 2008. I'm not sure Mickey Callaway makes it to Monday if the Mets somehow get swept in Miami this weekend.

So this probably wasn't the best answer that Callaway could've given, but given the pressure surrounding him and his team we also can't blame the guy. He just may want to craft some better responses for the near future.
