VIDEO: Miguel Cabrera Crushes Pair of Monster Home Runs off Gerrit Cole
By Scott Rogust
The New York Yankees signed Gerrit Cole this winter to put their starting rotation over the edge and serve as their undisputed ace. On Thursday, Cole didn't have the best of performances. Dealing with a cold earlier this week, Cole took the mound on a windy Thursday afternoon against the Detroit Tigers and got absolutely murdered by exactly two people. After surrendering a two-run home run to Travis Demeritte, slugger Miguel Cabrera stepped up to the plate, and sent a baseball to the parking lot located in left-center field, giving the Tigers a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
One inning later, one strike away from getting out of his second inning of work, the exact same danged thing happened again. Demeritte went deep, Miggy took the next pitch to dead center.
While many will focus on Cole's bad start, you can't ignore the fact that Miggy still has that trademark power at 36 years old.
