Mike McCarthy Hopes to Retain Kellen Moore as Cowboys Offensive Coordinator
By Sam Dunn

Jason Garrett may have finally, mercifully been given the sack on an official basis in Dallas, but as of this moment, the rest of his coaching staff remains in a state of flux. And one assistant in particular could be the first to find himself retained under new head coach Mike McCarthy.
Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, McCarthy would prefer to keep incumbent offensive coordinator Kellen Moore around in the role he ascended to last year, but it's not a done deal as he considers other options.
Update on #Cowboys OC Kellen Moore: New coach Mike McCarthy would like him to stay and remain OC, which may also help Moore learn a new system. But he also has an opportunity to go back home and become the University of Washington OC under Jimmy Lake. He is mulling it all over.

Moore, a reserve quarterback in Dallas for the final three seasons of his NFL career, immediately made the transition to QB coach in 2018 following his retirement as a player.
As Rapoport notes, the vacant offensive coordinator job for the Washington Huskies would be one of interest to Moore as well, given his roots in the Evergreen State. But it's worth noting that the young play-caller is held in some regard by Jerry Jones, who ultimately has his hands in every last decision made in Big D.
Mike McCarthy didn’t have to make “any commitments” to current members of the Cowboys coaching staff, per @JayGlazer. Sounds like Jerry Jones is letting McCarthy hire his own guys. With that being said, McCarthy “will likely” retain OC Kellen Moore.

A chance to return to his home state may be attractive, but the allure of the Cowboys will always exist in its own category. Lay the smart money here and now on Kellen Moore sticking around the Metroplex.
