Packers Insider Speculates Mike McCarthy Could Replace Ron Rivera in Carolina

The Carolina Panthers have fired Ron Riveram and will be in the market for a new head coach this offseason. We are nearing the end of the regular season in the NFL, which means it's the perfect time to speculate as to whom Riverboat Ron's replacement will ultimately be.
Notably, ESPN Packers insider Rob Demovsky thinks Mike McCarthy is a potential big-name candidate for the job in Charlotte.

Linking Panthers owner David Tepper's "deep ties" to McCarthy's hometown of Pittsburgh -- he was formerly a co-owner with the Steelers -- and using it as a reason as to why the Panthers could go after the Super Bowl XLV champion seems like a bit of stretch, but it is something. And it's not so often that a Super Bowl-winning head coach is on the market at all.
The former Green Bay boss was unable to find a head coaching position last season that felt sufficiently attractive. However, he might become a much hotter commodity this time around.

Reportedly, McCarthy has been prepping for a return to the NFL. He has been out of football since the Packers parted ways with him one year ago.
There will certainly be more head coaching vacancies as the season draws to a conclusion, so the Panthers will likely not be the only team interested in his services when Black Monday rolls around. Keep an eye on this guy, Carolina fans.
