On Monday, less than 24 hours after officially firing Jason Garrett at long last, it was confirmed that the Dallas Cowboys had hired former Green Bay Packers boss Mike McCarthy as their new head coach.

Given their reputation, you just knew that Dallas hiring arguably the single best head coach on the market was going to feature some kind of bizarre backstory, right? If you had that idea in your head, you weren't wrong.

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that McCarthy stayed over at Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' house on Saturday night.

That's a strang way to seal the deal. Should other organizations looking to fill head coaching vacancies invite potential candidates over for a sleepover? It's clearly a foolproof strategy!

We just hope that Garrett isn't aware of this slumber party. As of Saturday night, he wasn't actually fired. Therefore, Jones technically cheated on him with McCarthy.

It just hurts sometimes.

It's fair to say that Garrett's days of sleeping over at Jerry's place are over. The 77-year-old owner has clearly moved on to bigger and better things.
