Mike McCarthy Weighs in on Packers' Success Under New Head Coach Matt LaFleur
By Sean Facey

The Green Bay Packers have flourished under first-year head coach Matt LaFleur. After missing the playoffs with a 6-9-1 record last year, they've turned things around and are now set to play in the NFC Championship Game.
Naturally, plenty of comparisons have been drawn between LaFleur and former head coach Mike McCarthy, but the latter, who was recently hired by the Dallas Cowboys, is happy to see his old squad on the brink of a Super Bowl appearance.

"It's great to see them back where they should be," said McCarthy. "I think the roster and the coaching has given them a chance to get to the Super Bowl."
So at least on the surface, it seems like there's no ill will between him and his former team.
Of course, nobody would have faulted him for saying that it stung. He was incredibly successful at the helm of the Packers, guiding them to a Super Bowl win and a .618 winning percentage during his 13 years as head coach. It's certainly tough to watch your former team sign star players the year after you leave, especially after former GM Ted Thompson rarely spent money to help bolster the squad for McCarthy.

But to his credit, he held his head high. He showed respect to the organization that showed him the door, and that's admirable.
