Mike Minor Gets Revenge on Red Sox Reporter Pete Abraham on Twitter After Alex Cora Dismissal
By Jerry Trotta
Remember when Mike Minor was on the precipice of recording his milestone 200th strikeout in his last outing of 2019? In the ninth inning, the Texas Rangers' infield let a catchable foul ball fall harmlessly to the ground to give the vet left-hander another crack at it, potentially at Minor's behest.
Minor rewarded their efforts by reaching the mark a few pitches later. The feat came against the Red Sox, and then-skipper Alex Cora didn't refrain from stating his dismay for the Rangers' antics.
In the post-game presser, Cora said, "I’m just happy our guys play the game the right way."
But that wasn't all the flack that Minor received.
Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe took to Twitter after the game to state that Minor's 200th punch out should "have a big asterisk," before deciding to fight a bunch of people on Twitter over one of the very last games of the regular season. PeteAbe having a normal one!
Oh, how the tables have turned...and the mighty have fallen.
In the wake of Cora being canned by the Red Sox for his role in the Houston Astros' (and Red Sox!) sign-stealing ventures, Minor got the last laugh with a brilliant troll job of Cora and Abraham on Twitter.
Consider the mic dropped, folks. Should've mentioned Pete, though.
Minor was probably waiting to unleash on Cora and Abraham for downplaying his achievement, and he likely thought that day would never come.
Isn't karma wonderful? It just happened to take a few months to come around in this instance.
