Mike Trout's Scouting Report From MLB The Show 2011 is the Dumbest Thing We've Ever Seen
By Adam Weinrib
Even if you weren't the biggest Mike Trout believer in 2011, you had to admit that the prospect was at least somewhat intriguing.
In his first full season in '10, Trout hit a combined .341 across two levels, including a ridiculous .362 in Single-A Cedar Rapids. He was due a longer look by the baseball literati in 2011, without a doubt -- unless you were going exclusively by MLB The Show rankings.
No only were the game's producers not big believers in Trout, but they appeared to hate every single detail about him.
Solid speed, a FULL FAILING GRADE in both aspects of hitting, and a D for potential. Did someone fall asleep in the middle of coding and just decide not to evaluate the kid?
I guess I have to "be thankful" at this point, considering Trout annually goes yard at least six "half-dozen" times per year.
Oh, yeah, and defense. Can he make the routine play?
The 28-year-old has put up one of the most complete careers the game has ever seen -- his lowest MVP finish in a full season is fourth place. It's hard to put his greatness in historical context, but observing how far he's come since some rogue video game makers in 2011 tried to end his career is a pretty good start.
