Mike Zimmer's Latest Quote Won't Inspire Much Hope in Vikings Fans
By Ian Anderson

The Minnesota Vikings suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers Monday night, and head coach Mike Zimmer's most recent comments should worry Vikings fans heading into January.
In the wake of a game in which they were completely overmatched by Za'Darius Smith and their rivals' pass rush, and Kirk Cousins came up small once again when forced to function in primetime without Dalvin Cook, Zimmer couldn't muster anything more inspirational than just saying he'd "just try to do something better." Not great.
#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer on getting wild card rather than NFC North title: "Winning the division is great because you get a home playoff game. but we weren't good enough to do that. We'll just try to do something better (in the playoffs).''

With their loss to the Packers, Minnesota secured the Wild Card spot for the postseason, and Zimmer better have more planned to win that game than simply closing his eyes and hoping.
Simply trying to do something better will not cut it, and Vikings fans deserve a better response out of their head coach.
The Vikings started off hot and took a 10-3 lead over the Packers, but quickly fell off and were lethargic offensively. If they wish to advance past the Wild Card round, they're going to need to see some significant improvement. Otherwise, they'll head home early come January.
Rewatching the game and in the nicest way possible, Vikings OL got the absolute shit beat out of em. No chance for a playoff run with that kind of performance.

Zimmer could start by addressing their offensive line's horrific performance. Kirk Cousins had no time to throw, and running back Mike Boone was getting smacked in the backfield on every play.
Minnesota should use their upcoming game against the Bears to test things out and see what works, because they have the No. 6 seed in the NFC locked up.
Offensively, it is hard to be worse than what we saw yesterday. Even "trying" might be a marked improvement.
