Mitch Haniger's Horrifying Injury Just Got a Whole Lot Grosser
By Jerry Trotta
When it rains it pours, and right now Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger is caught in the eye of the storm.
The 2018 All-Star was forced to exit Thursday's game against the Houston Astros in the seventh inning after fouling a ball of himself in the WORST possible area, and was later diagnosed with a testicular contusion.
If that news didn't make you cringe, however, this update on the injury is guaranteed to do the trick. Haniger's injury was worse than originally expected and has now been elevated to a ruptured testicle. And as you would presume, Haniger did, in fact, hit the IL.
Anybody else's spine shivering? We don't even want to imagine what type of pain Seattle's slugger must be feeling at the moment.
While he's only on the 10-day IL, Haniger's injury will likely cost him far more time than the minimal stint on the shelf.
Us too, Mr. Divish. Us too.
Ask any major league catcher who has been hit in the family jewels by a pitch, it's not a great feeling. But for the ball to come off your own bat and inflict the damage on yourself? That must feel even worse.
