Mitch Trubisky's Stats After 2 Weeks Are Breathtakingly Terrible and Bears Could Be in Trouble
By Scott Rogust
Everyone remembers when the Chicago Bears traded up one spot in the 2017 NFL Draft to select quarterback Mitchell Trubisky out of North Carolina with the second overall pick. After a promising sophomore campaign under new head coach Matt Nagy, his third year in the NFL hasn't started off smoothly through the first two weeks of the 2019 season.
The following statistics show he ranks well below the league-average among starting quarterbacks in many critical categories.
That's right, Trubisky ranks dead last among starting quarterbacks in terms of yards per completion, net yards per pass attempt, yards per attempt, and passing touchdowns-- which he still has ZERO of.
Bears fans, you may want to sit down after reading this one.
According to advanced analytics site Pro Football Focus, Trubisky ranks 40th in terms of passing grade, in which he owns a 50.8 out of 100. That ranks lower than Case Keenum, Josh Rosen, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and even New York Giants rookie Daniel Jones...who only has four pass attempts this season!
Plenty of blame is being placed on Trubisky, but some of it does belong to the play calling of Nagy. The Bears rank 30th in the entire NFL in terms of total offense (263.5 yards per game).
Yes, it is just two weeks into the season, but something has to change for the Chicago Bears and Mitchell Trubisky, especially if they plan to repeat as NFC North champions.
