Mitchell Trubisky Posts First Social Media Message of 2020 in Solidarity With George Floyd Protests
By Andrew Gullotta
After disappearing on Instagram after a disappointing 2019 season, Mitchell Trubisky made his return the the social media platform for a good cause.
In the post, the Bears quarterback said that he will "fight against racial injustices" and "take steps to make systematic change." With the message, the former first-round pick posted a black picture, which many people have shared to show support for the African-American community after the tragic death of George Floyd.
This was a great message, and it adds even more weight considering that it's his first activity on social media in 2020. Even though Trubisky has disappointed on the field at times, acts like these show that he can be a true leader on and off the field.
The 2018 Pro Bowler, who's in a competition with Nick Foles for the Bears' starting quarterback role, is one of a multitude of players who've spoken out against this social injustice. Hopefully, with the overwhelming support from many high-profile celebrities, not just athletes, positive change can be made, so we can wipe racial injustice out of our society.
