MLB Announces Yankees' Domingo German is Officially Done for the 2019 Season
By Jerry Trotta
Last week, it was shockingly announced by the MLB that Domingo German would be placed on administrative leave as the league investigates his alleged involvement in a domestic violence incident.
In the fallout, virtually every baseball pundit believed that would mark the last time the right-hander would pitch in a game for the New York Yankees this season.
Well, on Wednesday, that reality became official as the league and the players association have extended German's administrative league through the conclusion of the 2019 postseason, thus ending his year.
No suspension has been announced considering the investigation is still ongoing, and based on today's revelation, it's not entirely close to concluding.
The Yankees already expected to be without the 27-year-old in the playoffs, and now this news gives manager Aaron Boone plenty of time to sort out his pitching scheme with a few games still left to be played in the regular season.
All we can do now is wait for the investigation to conclude, which will determine German's fate for 2020.
In the meantime, expect Boone to roll with a three-headed rotation of Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka and James Paxton in October.
