MLB Insider Mapped Out a Wild Madison Bumgarner-Will Smith Braves Trade That Could Work
By Max Scoli

With the Trade Deadline just over two weeks away, MLB insiders are starting to get their hands dirty with some potential trade scenarios that could happen on July 31.
In ruminating over the wildest possible landing spots, MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince contemplated a deal that could send both Will Smith and Madison Bumgarner to the Atlanta Braves, and came up with this:

Atlanta gets: LHP Madison Bumgarner and LHP Will Smith
San Francisco gets: RHP Bryse Wilson, LHP Kolby Allard and OF Justin Dean
This deal is so crazy that it just might work. Atlanta could use some extra big league-ready 'pen depth, and they have the assets needed to acquire these top-notch pitchers (sorry, Kolby, but you may be the odd man out as a young starter in this system).
Something about Will Smith returning home to his home state of Georgia just feels right, too.
All-Star reliever (and Georgia native) Will Smith is back in Cleveland eight months after he came here for a Browns-Falcons game, lost a bet to some buddies and had to jump in Lake Erie when ATL lost. "It was freaking cold!" he said.

If the Braves can manage to pull this off, they will certainly rival the Los Angeles Dodgers as favorites to nab the NL pennant. This move would provide an upgrade to the organization's weakest area of the roster, and would likely put them over the top.

Whether or not the San Francisco Giants decide to bite is another story, but you never know.
