Bill Walton, a legendary basketball player and eccentric personality, threw one of the worst first pitches you'll ever see Friday night, but I'll give the 66-year-old, near seven-footer a pass.

But man, what are we going to get when he calls a baseball game with Chicago White Sox play-by-play man Jason Benetti on August 16 for NBC Sports Chicago?

Walton and Benetti can get of the tracks when they call college basketball games together for ESPN. It's a done deal the same thing will happen during a nine-inning game between the White Sox and Los Angeles Angels, especially if there's a blow out.

Whether he watches baseball regularly or not, Walton will be entertaining. That's what Benetti expects, and you can bet that's what he's going to get.

“I know he enjoys baseball,” Benetti said. "I don’t know if he’s sitting at home watching a game every day. But that’s not the point of being around Bill because the cool thing about him is he has ideas about whatever he looks at."

“His perceptual abilities are through the roof. So to have him get a look at (the White Sox) for one night and shower us with his opinions about not just the team but also the rock formation in center field at Angel Stadium and Mike Trout and other people named after fish, I mean, who knows where it’s going?”

Get ready, White Sox fans. Walton will wear something unique, and his opinions on various topics are unmatched. I don't know how this came together, but enjoy it.
