MLB Veteran Shawn Green Pays Tribute to Tony Fernandez With Excellent Story

Sad news struck the MLB world when the passing of Tony Fernandez was announced this weekend.
The former shortstop played in the league from 1983 all the way until 2001. He impacted plenty of lives in that span and left a legacy behind after playing in three separate decades. Former MLB outfielder Shawn Green spent some time with Fernandez in Toronto and shared an amazing tribute on Twitter.

Fernandez finished his career with over 2,200 hits and was a true hitting master, as Green points out. Referring to him as Yoda is a fun anecdote that sheds light on how Fernandez was viewed by his teammates during and after his career.

Fernandez spent the most time with the Blue Jays in four separate stints with the team and that is where he played his best baseball. He touched plenty of lives there as well and Green is likely not the only former Blue Jay mourning the loss of the man they called Yoda.
