MLBPA Launches Full Investigation of Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos for Comments About Free Agency

Atlanta Braves fans are likely still getting over their club's premature exit in October after falling to the St. Louis Cardinals in humiliating fashion in the NLDS.

With the offseason officially underway, Braves buffs finally had a reason to feel positive as they are likely expecting the organization to make a big splash or two. Well, that notion came to a precise halt on Wednesday evening as the MLBPA is launching a full investigation into GM Alex Anthopoulos for his recent comments regarding free agency.

There is a lot of baseball jargon in that statement made by Player's Association Director Tony Clark, but The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal cleared the air, and his analysis is quite damning.

Per Rosenthal, "club coordination" is an insinuation of two (or more) clubs potentially colluding. In this case, that includes all 27 teams except for the Nationals, Astros, and Braves, of course.

The MLB's Collective Bargaining Agreement clearly prohibits teams from disclosing information about free agents, so Anthopoulos could be in some deep water depending on how the investigation unfolds.
