MLBTV is Inexplicably Blacking Out Blue Jays Games Throughout All of Canada in 2020
By Brendan Balsamo
If there's anything the MLB has been good at recently, it's alienating large groups of fans.
Rob Manfred has been an expert at angering baseball fans, as his weak punishment of the Astros and subsequent defense of that punishment, plus some blasphemous comments on the value of the World Series trophy have some fans calling for his job. Now, in another baffling decision, he and MLBTV have decided to black out Toronto Blue Jays games for all of Canada for the entirety of the 2020 season.
Canadian baseball fans are rightfully infuriated. For some, MLBTV is the only way they are able to watch their favorite teams play. The Blue Jays play in Toronto, so not every television in Canada gets the broadcast.
Fans will need to get Sportsnet NOW, a different service, in order to stream Blue Jays games. MLB is making all the wrong moves even with their streaming services.
The negative press for the MLB just doesn't seem to stop.
