Montreal Baseball Leader's Answer to Latest Rays Question is Completely Nonsensical
By Parker White
The leader of Montreal's baseball movement (and son of the former Expos owner), Canadian businessman Stephen Bronfman, spoke on Wednesday about the plan written out by the Tampa Bay Rays that sets out to split the team's 81 home games in half, spending parts of the MLB regular season between Tampa Bay and Montreal.
Bronfman is on board with it, even if it means getting baseball back on just a part-time basis.
Of course, he doesn't even see things as being "split," per se; Bronfman then made a head-scratching comment about the two markets and how it's not that big of deal to play half of the home games in one place and the rest in another.
What? How does each market have a full-time team, even though half of their home games will be played in a different city, one that happens to be almost 1,500 miles away?
It's not like Rays fans from the Tampa Bay area can drive a couple hours to see their team in a different location. No, they need a passport and to spend hundreds of dollars in travel to see them. It's not that simple.
I understand that you like the plan and it brings baseball back to Montreal in some capacity, but you can also understand why fans in Tampa Bay wouldn't be thrilled about this.
