Much to the dismay of Boston Red Sox fans, Mookie Betts is gone. The newest member of the Los Angeles Dodgers is ready to start anew on the other side of the country, and he confirmed that on President's Day with a tweet thanking his former team and expressing excitement about starting with his new squad.

Most notably, however, Boston fans probably aren't going to be thrilled about Betts referring to Los Angeles as "Titletown."

It has to hurt for Sox fans that Betts didn't simply send an exclusive message o thanks to Boston and save the LA stuff for a subsequent post -- especially after learning owner John Henry said trading the generational star had nothing to do with the team looking to get under the luxury tax threshold. Betts combined the farewell and welcome messages into one compelling clip instead.

It's not a happy holiday for folks in Boston, is it?

But there's always hope! Betts didn't rule out a return to Boston when speaking to the media last week. After all, he'll be a free agent after this season. Was the master plan to trade Betts, get value, start a mini re-tool, and bring him back in 2021 on the open market with an even better roster?

Sox fans certainly hope so, but others can't say that seems legitimate given how much of a mess this has truly been.
