More Puzzling Details Emerge After Eddy Piñeiro Missed Game-Winning Field Goal for Bears
By Parker White
The Chicago Bears lost in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, as kicker Eddy Pineiro missed a game-winning 41-yard field goal attempt as time expired.
After the game, Bears head coach Matt Nagy was pretty adamant when saying that he had "zero thought" to run or pass in order to get a closer field goal attempt.
But did he think about where the ball should be placed?
The ball was placed on the left hash mark, and when Pineiro was asked if that's where he wanted the ball, he was very honest.
"No, I didn’t," Pineiro said. "But it is what it is."
Nagy spoke to the media on Monday and reiterated that he wouldn't change a thing. He would take a knee again. That's fine, but if you're dead set on a game-winning kick, you better make sure it's placed where the kicker wants it.
Pineiro is 12-for-15 on field goals this year, including a 53-yarder that won Chicago a game as time expired. We aren't talking about a Cody Parkey situation, however, if you want fans to move on from that traumatic ending in the playoffs, you better put the ball in the right place when you have the ability to do so.
