Former Jets and Packers DE Muhammad Wilkerson Arrested for Drunk Driving and Weed Possession

Muhammad Wilkerson hasn't been in the NFL since 2018, but has re-entered the limelight -- albeit under unfortunate circumstances.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that the former New York Jets and Green Bay Packers defensive end was arrested this week by New Jersey State Police on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
As Garafolo states, this isn't he first time Wilkerson has been arrested for DWI. The former 2011 first-round pick was cited last summer on a similar charge in New York.
Wilkerson was viewed as a hero by Jets faithful for the majority of his seven-year tenure, but the 2017 season proved to be too much for the organization. After being disciplined by the team late that year due to tardiness for team meetings, the Jets released him that offseason.
The Packers opted to take a chance on Wilkerson by signing him to a one-year pact worth $5 million in 2018. That investment failed to yield significant results, as he was limited to just three games due to a season-ending ankle injury.
His troubles related to controlled substances surely prevented him from signing on with a team last year, so this latest arrest solidifies that Wilkerson won't be playing in the NFL anytime soon. In fact, it's worth wondering if the 2015 Pro Bowler's playing days are entirely over.
