Ezekiel Elliott Among Multiple Cowboys and Texans Players Who've Tested Positive for COVID-19 Recently

While the state of Texas has been increasingly optimistic about the potential for pro sports being played in the state once the calendar turns to fall, both of the state's NFL teams have had a handful of players contract the coronavirus in recent weeks.

According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, several unnamed players on the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Per Rapoport, the players have not been in their team's facilities, and the two teams followed all proper health protocols. This, in effect, removes any liability from the Cowboys and Texans.

Headlining the names is Cowboys 'back Ezekiel Elliott, who is reportedly recovering well.

The NFL has been fortunate in that they haven't had many confirmed cases up until this point. Among the few that have contracted the infection are Denver Broncos pass rusher Von Miller, Los Angeles Rams center Brian Allen, Washington Redskins rookie Antonio Gandy-Golden, and Saints head man Sean Payton. But as contact increases and teams gather again, the situation could easily spike, endangering team employees both young and, primarily, old.

This virus is not slowing down, even as we're going on three months without sports. If anyone in the league office thinks that now is the time to start relaxing social distancing and cleaning protocols, especially given the latest news with these two teams, they shouldn't be in a position of authority.
