A truly disturbing storyline formulated during 2019 Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta on Saturday. Play was stopped around 4:20 p.m. ET for an inclement weather delay as players and fans were subsequently cleared from the course.

Roughly 20 minutes later, however, there were two lightning strikes at tree near the green of the 16th hole was it, which resulted in six pedestrians being injured by flying debris.

In a statement, the PGA Tour said that the debris struck four people, who were transported to local hospitals, along with two others, by first-responders.

Billy Kramer, owner of NFA Burgers, which had a food tent at the tournament, was one of the bystanders that were injured. He was riding his cart when the lightning flashed and the force of the bolt literally knocked him out of the vehicle. He suffered a sprained ankle on the fall.

Here's a clip that depicts just how ferocious and terrifying the strike was from a distance:

Thankfully, the Tour revealed that the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
