Mural Immortalizing Kawhi Leonard's Buzzer Beater Against 76ers Unveiled in Toronto
By Scott Rogust
The city of Toronto had it's fair share of sports moments , from Jose Bautista's bat flip to Joe Carter's walk off homerun to win the 1993 World Series. And there's a new member on that list now: "The Shot" from the one and only Kawhi Leonard.
With Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals looking to enter overtime, Leonard would use the final four-plus seconds to throw up a Hail Mary quadruple-doink shot to help the Raptors advance past the 76ers.
A week after the buzzer beater, Toronto gave Leonard a gift to commemorate that incredible moment:
You know you've made it in your respective town when they literally paint your likeness on the side of a building with an awesome view of the CN Tower in the background.
Leonard already had a mural up prior to his Game 7 buzzer beater, and that came after the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Two murals in two series? Not bad for a guy's first playoff run in town.
The Raptors returned home on Sunday prior to Game 3 to attempt to bounce back against the Milwaukee Bucks, who owned a 2-0 series lead, and they did exactly that, with Kawhi leading the way with a spirited performance that required two overtimes. If their mojo really is back, perhaps the superstar forward will find more and more reasons to consider staying a Raptor beyond this season.
And his legend isn't done growing yet. There's still much basketball to be played.
