'Murder Hornets' Are Going Viral and it's Time for Michael Jordan to Rename Charlotte's NBA Franchise
By Scott Rogust
The first four months of 2020 felt straight out of an apocalypse movie. From threats of a world war, to the spread of a deadly virus. How could things get worse for the United States? Well, how about "murder hornets?"
The New York Times revealed on Saturday that giant hornets from Asia are making their way to North America, and are a serious danger to the honeybee population. Oh, and if you're the extremely unlucky individual that gets stung by "murder hornet," the feeling has been compared to hot metal driving into the skin. Yikes.
Even though this insect sounds terrifying as hell, we can't help but think that "murder hornets" would be a great name for Michael Jordan's Charlotte-based NBA franchise.
This is no knock on the Hornets team name, because it's an all-time classic. But this is an organization that hasn't been taken seriously since it's re-inception. Ever since returning to the Hornets name, the team has only made the playoffs once, losing in the first round of the Miami Heat in 2016. Other than that, they've been below .500 for five of the past six seasons.
Jordan simply needs to switch the team's namesake to one that will strike fear in the opposition. Plus, he needs to do this to improve his reputation as an NBA owner. Just imagine the public address announcer introducing the Charlotte Murder Hornets over the speaker system of Spectrum Center. We're getting goosebumps just thinking about it.
Admit it, it's a way better name than the Bobcats.
