Myles Garrett's Mentality Towards NFL Ranking Speaks Volumes
Each summer, NFL Network ranks the top 100 players as determined by its staff from the previous season. The rankings aren't the most consistent, but it's a good way to see how the players on your favorite team are viewed in an unbiased setting.
Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is ranked this year for the first time, and he seems unhappy with the outcome.
After being unranked following an injury-plagued rookie season, Garrett jumped to 49 in this year's rankings. Even after jumping over fifty spots, Garrett is unsatisfied with his ranking, seemingly ready to use it as motivation.
It's interesting to see how different players react to rankings and media-driven content. While some players choose to ignore the media and these rankings, others like Garrett, choose to use them as motivation.
Garrett deservingly should be seen as one of the premiere edge rushers in the NFL. His 13.5 sacks were seventh last season only behind elite rushers like Aaron Donald, JJ Watt and Von Miller.
Only in his third season, Garrett is showing he's ready to dominate the league and help the Browns push for the playoffs for the first time in forever. Newly acquired Olivier Vernon should help Garrett form one of the best defensive end tandems in the NFL this season.
