Nathan Eovaldi and Mitch Moreland Remain Shut Down in Latest Red Sox Injury Update
By Ryan Flores

The Boston Red Sox will have to deal with the injury bug for a little while longer.
In the latest Red Sox injury update, it was reported that Nathan Eovaldi is still shut down due to biceps tightness. Mitch Moreland is in a similar boat, as he has yet to resume baseball activities after sustaining a right quad strain.
Lots of Red Sox injury updates today:

* Eovaldi is still shut down
* Johnson will likely be activated this week
* Pearce is doing baseball activities; Moreland is not
* Brasier return TBA, Thornburg back to Pawtucket for rehabhttps://t.co/7o7bfZBBmm
The Red Sox have been getting by for now with Brock Holt at second base and Michael Chavis at first, but the squad desperately needs Moreland's power bat in the lineup soon. The Red Sox rotation has been an area of concern all season, and they have not had a consistent fifth starter since Eovaldi went down to begin with, just as he was beginning to heat up.

With Hector Velazquez also on the injured list, Boston has no choice but to turn to their third-ranked prospect Darwinzon Hernandez to take a turn in the rotation. Hernandez has had a rocky year at Double-A so far, posting a 5.13 ERA in 40.1 innings pitched, but has struck out 59 batters during that time. He's has had just one big-league appearance to date, in which he struck out four in 2.1 innings of relief.
The Red Sox are currently 34-33, and have hovered around .500 for a while now. They're going to need to turn things around, and soon, if they want to have any chance at catching the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees, who are tied for first in the AL East. Boston simply cannot let injuries get the best of them.
