Nationals Announce Full Roster for Wild Card Game Showdown With Brewers
By Adam Weinrib
Today's the day, Nats fans.
It's a do-or-die playoff game without all the buildup. All the nerves of postseasons past bundled into one day. Understandably, it's weird.
But with Max Scherzer on the bump, you've got to feel good about your chances. Here are the other 24 men who will go to battle with him, on a roster that can be altered, of course, if the Nationals advance to the NLDS.
Yup, it's extremely jarring to look at.
Because this is just one game, a good portion of their theoretical bullpen won't be available. There's no need to overload on mid-tier arms when it's much more likely that a key pinch-hitter will make the difference (especially with starters Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin planning to be all in. Still, it's bizarre to see three catchers on this one-game roster, but only nine pitchers. Nine? We sure? We really needed Andrew Stevenson here?
Regardless of your opinion of the intricacies here, it's time to go to war. Nothing you can do about it now. Get the job done and move on, Washington.
