Nationals Stun Astros in Game 7 to Become First Team to Ever Win 4 Road Games in World Series
By Thomas Carannante
In one of the most improbable runs in recent memory, the Washington Nationals have done the unthinkable.
Five times facing elimination. Five times trailing. Five victories.
The team from the nation's capital captured the franchise's first-ever World Series title in one of the most gutsy performances we've ever seen. They won all four road games in the Fall Classic and became the first team in MLB history to ever accomplish such a feat.
The NL Wild Card team, who at one point this season was a lowly 19-31, stormed back to defy all odds and defeat the best pitchers in the game en route to this championship run.
A team that got swept by the New York Mets in a four-game series this year just won four at Minute Maid Park with the home team leading in each of the final two games.
Who's the hero? Really, you could make a case for anyone. Max Scherzer battling through injuries. Stephen Strasburg becoming an bonafide clutch playoff ace. Juan Soto and Anthony Rendon delivering timely hit after timely hit. Patrick Corbin being a trooper out of the bullpen. Let's also not forget about manager Dave Martinez, who seemingly pushed all the right buttons every step of the way.
This team never quit and came out on top with their backs against the wall on countless occasions. You couldn't ask for a better group of warriors to capture the franchise's first-ever championship.
