Nationals Staff Seen Boldly Practicing On-Field Trophy Presentation Before Game 3 in Washington
By Jerry Trotta
If you don't think that karma exists in professional sports, you are sorely mistaken.
The Washington Nationals have cruised to a 2-0 lead in the Fall Classic with the chance to close out their FIRST world championship in franchise history in front of their home fans in DC this weekend. All they have to do to keep that momentum alive is, well, what they've done in Games 1 and 2: play virtually flawless baseball.
Well, members of the club's staff were caught brazenly auditioning for a Commissioners Trophy presentation on Thursday, and if that's not bad juju we don't know what is.
Just when you thought the Nats were a team of destiny en route to rolling past the Astros in the World Series to cap off a brilliant postseason showing, this alarming photo emerges.
It's worth noting again that this organization has NEVER won a championship since the Montreal Expos debuted in MLB in 1969. Why risk jinxing the likelihood of that drought coming to an end?
In retrospect, it makes sense for the rehearsal to transpire on the only off-day the teams would have until Monday -- that's if the Astros were to survive past a potential Game 5 on Sunday, of course.
Regardless, any casual sports fan could easily point out the sheer paradox of premature celebrating.
Nationals fans can almost taste a World Series title, but this photo will certainly have them feeling uneasy, despite their club holding a commanding 2-0 lead.
