Nationals Starter Patrick Corbin Will Wear No. 45 Tonight to Honor Tyler Skaggs
By Parker White
The entire baseball community is heartbroken by the news that Los Angeles Angels starter Tyler Skaggs suddenly passed away Monday at the age of 27.
The baseball community is rightfully shaken up by this tragedy, and among those who have sent condolences to the Skaggs family is one of his best friends, Washington Nationals starter Patrick Corbin.
To honor him, Corbin has decided to change his jersey number to Skaggs' No. 45 for tonight's start against the Miami Marlins.
Skaggs and Corbin were both selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2009 draft, and they both ended up being dealt to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the same trade.
They came up and played together in the minor leagues. Heck, they both made their debuts with the D-Backs in 2012.
Corbin and Skaggs were very close, even when they didn't play together on the same team. You can imagine it being a very difficult day for Corbin, but he wants to pitch and will honor his friend tonight by wearing his jersey.
