Nationals Take Pretty Clear Shot at Bryce Harper Ahead of NLCS Game 4
By Scott Rogust
The Washington Nationals enter Wednesday night one win away from their first ever World Series appearance. Washington's season has been a major accomplishment in many aspects, but they've been especially proud of thriving in the aftermath of the Bryce Harper era, after they allowed their star walk in free agency to the Philadelphia Phillies.
In fact, prior to the big game, the Nationals took a clear shot at their former superstar.
If you missed the reference, we bring you back to this past March. Once Harper finally signed his 13-year, $330 million contract, he held an official press conference with his new team in Clearwater. In that very presser, Harper botched his declaration, saying, "We want to bring a title back to DC."
What he really meant to say was bring a World Series back to Philadelphia. However, Nats fans have spent the entire year clowning him, and now the TEAM is involved, on the doorstep of history.
The Nationals definitely had this in their Twitter drafts, just waiting for the opportunity to post it.
Washington passed on re-signing Harper, putting confidence in Anthony Rendon, Juan Soto, and Trea Turner, while also adding a huge arm in Patrick Corbin to their stud starting rotation.
The Washington Nationals are hoping this doesn't backfire. That would be officially known as the "Bryce Harper Curse" if the unthinkable took place.
