Nationals Troll Yankees' Star-Studded Lineup After Joe Ross' Dominant Outing
By Scott Rogust
The Washington Nationals earned every right to brag, as they defeated the Houston Astros (and their alleged methods of sign-stealing) in seven games to win the 2019 World Series. It will go down as one of the more impressive performances in recent memory, considering the Nationals were just one inning away from begin eliminated in the Wild Card Round.
Well ever since experiencing World Series glory the Nationals Twitter account has been on a high, calling out the other 29 organizations in the process. On Wednesday, the account set its targets on the New York Yankees. During Spring Training action, starting pitcher Joe Ross handled the Yankees' star-studded lineup across two perfect innings, prompting the club to troll the Yanks on Twitter.
Those All-Stars that the official Nationals Twitter account mentioned were DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, Brett Gardner and Gary Sanchez, none of whom were able to get on base against Ross. Third baseman Gio Urshela and recently converted outfielder Miguel Andujar were also retired by the veteran hurler.
While the Nationals were no doubt feeling themselves after Ross' dominant couple of frames, the Yankees got the last laugh, as they pummeled David Hernandez in what was a sloppy bottom of the third to earn the 8-2 victory.
