Navy OL David Forney Tragically Passes Away at 22
By Michael Luciano

The Naval Academy's football resurgence was due, in part, to a tremendous offensive line in place this season. One of the key cogs in that line has unfortunately passed away far too soon.
David Forney, a starting right guard for the Midshipmen, was found unresponsive in his dorm room and declared dead at the age of 22.
Terrible news out of the Naval Academy, as senior OL David Forney, 22, died Thurs night after being found unresponsive; he started this season and would've graduated in May, having been assigned to commission as a cryptologic warfare officer: https://t.co/AyhVTzNhYT

Forney was a three-year starter on the Navy offensive line, which helped the Midshipmen lead the country in rushing this season. He started 39 consecutive games over the last three seasons at right guard, and was one of the best service academy players at any position this season.
Forney was on track to graduate in May, and he was expected to be deployed as a cryptologic warfare officer upon graduation.
We mourn the loss of our brother, David Forney, and ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers at this time. https://t.co/V0XIfxN0Kh#684L pic.twitter.com/PjsGyovApy

Navy's football team lost an excellent lineman, but our armed forces lost what would likely have been an amazing naval officer. Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the Forney family and the Naval Academy in this difficult time.
