NBA Fans Whining About Adam Silver Banning the Term 'Owner' Need to Truly Grow Up
By Charles Nason

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has officially made a change to the term "owner" in basketball circles.
Plenty of NBA players, such as Draymond Green, have spoken out against the use of the word due to racial sensitivity. Some have suggested that the league makes a change to the title.
Silver revealed on Monday that the NBA has indeed moved on from the term "owner" years ago and will now refer to those in financial control of teams as "governors." Some fans feel this is an overreaction and are further making it an issue.
The NBA has banned the term owner, as in team owner, because it is racially insensitive and has replaced it with governor per commissioner Adam Silver. I am not joking. This is real life.

The commissioner has handled the situation as best he can, yet there are those who want to continue the back-and-forth discussion and make it an even more magnified topic. Why some are so upset over the fact that the league is shifting away from a word that some find offensive and racially insensitive is beyond understanding.
How else do you want the commissioner of the sport to handle this? Act like Roger Goodell and do nothing, only to watch your players continuously express their discontent in the media?
“I’m sensitive to it, and I think to the extent teams are moving away from the term, we’ll stick with using Governor.” https://t.co/t2xHqd9bXG

The backlash from those who don't agree with Silver's decision is an overreaction in itself. There's little point in whining about a league commissioner willing to display a progressive attitude and answer to the plea of his players.
At the end of the day, Silver made a wise and conscious decision that will ultimately improve relations around the league, regardless of what Clay Travis thinks.
