The NBA is pursuing an investigation of DeMarcus Cousins afterTMZ leaked audio from a phone call containing the Los Angeles Lakers center allegedly threatening to put a bullet in his ex-girlfriend's head.
The Lakers released a statement following the reports, but didn't provide much detail. The league is understandably taking the matter seriously and will wait until enough information is established before making any decisions.
NBA spokesman Mike Bass statement on DeMarcus Cousins‘ situation: “We are aware of the report regarding DeMarcus Cousins and are investigating the allegations.”

If it wasn't bad enough for Cousins, a torn ACL this offseason ended his year with the Lakers before it even started, and given his size (coupled with multiple other big injuries), it might be hard for him to continue playing in the NBA. Though players have been able to come back from a torn ACL (Derrick Rose, Zach LaVine, Jabari Parker), injuries have piled up for Boogie.
In laying out his reasons for retiring, Andrew Luck also explains why DeMarcus Cousins is in need of good thoughts. Inability to participate in one’s passion can send the mind to very dark places.

Cousins is only 29 years old, but two devastating injuries within a year and a half is costly for any athlete. If more disturbing details surface through the league's investigation of Cousins and his ex-girlfriend, the league could close the door for good on the big man.
