NBC Flexes Seahawks-49ers to Primetime in Week 17
As the NFL season starts to come to a close, many of the top seeds in the divisions and conference are still up for grabs. In the NFC, next week's matchup between division rivals the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers could determine much of the seeding for the playoffs, including which team gets the coveted bye week, which means extra rest and no chance of early elimination.
Primetime matchups call for primetime game slots. The NFL has moved this much-anticipated matchup to 8:20 EST, in order for it to be under the umbrella of "Sunday Night Football," serving as the last game of the regular season.
The NFL would like to boost viewership and pick up as much hype for the game as possible, so it's officially all eyes on Seattle and the 12s with a chance to clinch the top seed (!) over their once-and-future rivals.
