NBC Suspends Former NHL All-Star Jeremy Roenick for Inappropriate Comments on Barstool Podcast
By Mark Powell
Barstool Sports and lewd behavior tend to go hand-in-hand these days, but Jeremy Roenick somehow found a way to take things a step further.
The former NHL All-Star turned NBC sports analyst was a guest on Barstool's 'Spittin Chiclets' podcast and made some inappropriate comments about several co-workers, including fellow hockey broadcasters Kathryn Tappen, Patrick Sharp and Anson Carter.
Roenick described a past vacation to Portugal with his wife and Tappen, in which he frequently joked about the rumored friends having a threesome.
“I play it off like we’re going to bed together every night, the three of us," Roenick said. “If it really came to fruition, that would really be good, but it’s never going to happen.”
The five-time All-Star would go on to compliment Tappen's professionalism.
Other questionable comments included calling Sharp 'beautiful' and contrasting his appearance with all of his co-stars in a joking manner.
“It’s good to have a beautiful face that talks well that knows the game because it’s totally the opposite when me and Anson get on there,” Roenick said.
NBC pretty clearly has zero tolerance for these sort of comments, which paint their NHL coverage in a negative light. Roenick's suspension is indefinite, with no details on when the former NHL forward will be allowed back on air.
