NC State's Student Paper Front Page After Upset Win Over Duke is Absolutely Hilarious
By Will Coleman
The No. 6 Duke Blue Devils were riding a seven-game winning streak before the unthinkable happened Wednesday night. Not even 30 miles from their home court in Durham, Duke was manhandled by unranked North Carolina State 88-66 for its fourth loss of the season and third of ACC play. The only thing better than Coach K's egregious blow by of NC State head coach Kevin Keatts after the game was the front cover of the school paper on Thursday morning.
The Wolfpack's upset of the Blue Devils would have never happened if not for senior guard Markell Johnson, whose last name graces the cover of Thursday's edition of NC State's student newspaper -- Technician.
Johnson led the way with 28 points, nine rebounds and a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from beyond half court to put the Wolfpack up 15 points at halftime. Now that's some Big Johnson Energy.
Aside from Duke, Louisville and Florida State, this has been the ultimate down year for ACC basketball. Defending champion Virginia will probably end up with a bid for the NCAA Tournament too, but NC State's win over Duke makes a fifth ACC tournament team that much more likely.
