NCAA Should Still Honor Teams on Selection Sunday After Cancellation of March Madness

The 2020 NCAA Tournament is officially cancelled, as the organization decided on that route instead of playing strange games in front of empty stadiums. In addition, all other winter and spring collegiate sports are cancelled.
This is only a small part of an entirely wild segment of the news news, but in a sports context, it is upsetting that players who worked so hard will not get to realize their dreams of taking part in March Madness.
One nice consolation pitched by analyst Jeff Goodman would be to hold Selection Sunday in full, to at least honor the teams for a nice regular season.
Hey NCAA: Just move forward with the Selection Show on Sunday to give teams what they rightfully earned, suspend the actual tourney for the time being and look at all alternative plans over the next couple weeks/month in hopes the tournament can actually be held.

There is no real downside to Goodman's idea. Some teams already won their conference tournaments, and it would be nice to get an official bid into the NCAA Tournament. Is it still a bummer? Yes, but it is at least something positive after some careers have abruptly come to an end.
I respect the NCAA’s decision to put everyone’s safety first. That said, every team deserves recognition for their season’s success. Brackets should still be announced on Selection Sunday.

The Selection show doesn't have to have the normal fake drama. It can just be a formal broadcast where the bracket is revealed. At least give the players something to smile about after such shocking news.
