NCAA Statement on James Wiseman is Bizarre and Unnecessary

The NCAA dropped a bomb on the college basketball world on Friday evening when they declared James Wiseman, the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2019 class, ineligible to play for the Memphis Tigers for the foreseeable future.

Wiseman's ruling has been put on hold for the time being, making him eligible to play Friday night vs. UIC, but the NCAA's initial punishment came from the fact that Tigers head coach Penny Hardaway helped Wiseman and his family move to Memphis when he was still in high school.

The general feeling around the country is in Wiseman's favor, and the NCAA did not help their case with the bogus statement they released in response to the Memphis star taking the hardwood.

Seriously, what is the point of this?

The University chose to play him because a court judge opted to delay the legal proceedings, making him eligible to take the floor against the Flames.

If you ask us, that's a big YIKES, and it comes on the same day Ohio State decided to sit stud defensive end/linebacker Chase Young out of fear of NCAA violations.

It's almost as if the NCAA is paranoid that the top players in the country are becoming too significant, and they feel the need to intervene to assert their dominance.

Like most of America, we're sick of it.
