The NCAA tournament was among the first major sporting events in America to be postponed or cancelled amid the growing coronavirus pandemic. While the idea of a hypothetical bracket meant to honor the players and teams that were deserving of inclusion was floated, Mark Emmert and the NCAA quickly shut that down.
NCAA senior vice president Dan Gavitt confirmed that the NCAA would not release a 2020 bracket to give teams who were bound for the tournament the recognition they deserved, citing the fact that the field could not be adequately seeded due to the cancellation of the major conference tournaments.

While there is a lot of truth in that statement, this will do little to console the players and coaches of teams who were poised to participate in the NCAA Tournament.
All of their hard work over the course of the season hasn't amounted to what it was supposed to. Bitterly disappointing in so many ways.

“It’s bulls%^*&. Erase all the work these kids have put in without giving it a chance to play out."
Unfortunately, the hard work of hundreds of players and dozens of seniors will go unrewarded. What was shaping up to be one of the best tournaments in years is now officially cancelled. The right move, but still a gut punch.
