Nelson Agholor Signing an Incredibly Weak Contract With Raiders Proves His Time With the Eagles Was Truly a Waste
By Thomas Carannante
To say Nelson Agholor's time with the Philadelphia Eagles was a failure would be harsh, but many fans would agree. Aside from his fairly productive 2017 and 2018 campaigns, the former first-round pick was a huge disappointment, especially this past season when the offense needed him most.
The USC product just never panned out after being taken 20th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft and his time with the Eagles proved that, considering the contract he recently signed with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Is that even a livable wage in the NFL? After five years in the league, the 26-year-old might not even make $900,000 in 2020?! The man truly had zero leverage in contract talks, which means one thing: his time with the Eagles was a disappointment and a true waste of time for everybody involved.
While Agholor's speed bailed him out here and there, his route-running ability and hands are below average -- if we're being nice -- and it's hard to believe he'll succeed in a largely directionless Raiders offense if he was unable to break out under guru Doug Pederson.
Take out his 2017 season that helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl, and Agholor's time in the City of Brotherly Love was a tenure many wish they could forget. Watching the lowlights in the clip above makes you question if he was enduring off-the-field issues because a majority of those mishaps are inexcusable at the NFL level.
