Kyrie Irving Expected to Undergo Procedure on Shoulder and Miss Extended Time
By Scott Rogust
The Kyrie Irving era for the Brooklyn Nets has been a bit problematic, and it's only gotten worse.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Irving is set to undergo a medical procedure on his right shoulder and will miss an extended period of time.
The Nets point guard re-aggravated that very shoulder earlier this month and has missed the past five contests. On Tuesday, the team announced Irving would be out indefinitely.
He missed significant time earlier in the year with shoulder discomfort and other ailments, limiting him to just 20 games on the season. To make matters worse, Irving didn't exactly give his Nets teammates a vote of confidence, despite missing time and star Kevin Durant out until next season.
In those limited number of games, Irving averaged 27.4 points, 6.4 assists and 5.2 rebounds.
While there isn't a specific timetable for his return, it's safe to assume that this could be the last we see Irving for the remainder of the 2019-20 season. At least there's next season for the Nets.
