Never Forget Dave Gettleman Has Somehow Already Done an NFL Draft Via Skype

Giants GM Dave Gettleman has been making headlines recently for both New York's interest in trading down from their No. 4 overall spot in this week's NFL Draft and his laughable at-home war room, but no one is talking about the unforeseen advantage he has over other league executives.

Rewinding all the way back to the 2014 NFL Draft, when Gettleman was the second-year GM of the Carolina Panthers, the then-63-year-old performed his draft-day duties remotely via Skype. Yeah. Trader Dave has already BEEN here.

On the third day of that year's draft, Gettleman's son was graduating from Becker College in Worcester, MA. Stuck having to work digitally, the GM remained productive. Gettleman and the Panthers selected three players that day, and even traded up 20 spots in the fifth round.

If there's actually an argument to be had about certain personnel having an advantage over others in this year's draft, Gettleman and his virtual experience from 2014 take the cake. There's no denying some confused GM will at least have minor technical difficulties at some point in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Bills GM Brandon Beane thinks we should maybe take Gettleman more seriously, anyway. Perhaps this will only kick it up a notch?

It would be wrong of us to underestimate Gettleman. He's never had trouble shocking Giants fans with moves in the past, and that shouldn't be any different in this year's digital draft.
