VIDEO: New Alex Smith Training Clip Will Restore Any Faith You Lost in Humanity
By Jerry Trotta

E:60's latest documentary, "Project 11," shed a glaring light on Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith's grueling rehab. The former No. 1 overall pick nearly lost his leg after he suffered a spiral compound fracture to his tibia and fibula during the 2018 season. The injury became infected and Smith was forced to undergo 17 surgeries to save the leg. Now, nearly 18 months later, the 36-year-old is still working his way back to full health. As if everybody wasn't already in Smith's corner as he continues to fight to return to the NFL, his wife, Elizabeth, posted a clip of him training that is guaranteed to brighten your day.

This is amazing.
Not only is Smith making accurate throws, but he's running at full speed and putting fairly significant weight on his heavily-braced right leg. That fact that the three-time Pro Bowler's kids are helping with his training makes the video all the more wholesome.

It remains to be seen if Smith will become a starter in the NFL again, but it would be downright foolish to doubt him considering how many strides he's made and the sheer odds he's overcome thus far.
