VIDEO: New Bills Kicker Tyler Bass Shows off Insane Leg Strength
By Jerry Trotta
The Buffalo Bills didn't hold a first-round pick in the NFL Draft, but GM Brandon Beane did a sound job by all accounts. In fact, he may have found the team's kicker of the future when he selected Georgia Southern product Tyler Bass in the sixth round. If any members of Bills Mafia are lacking confidence in the pick, this sick highlight will surely cure those doubts. Checkout Bass showcase his incredible leg strength by drilling a 50-yard field goal without taking a step.
That almost seems impossible, and of course he took things a step further by nailing a 60-yard FG with just one step of momentum behind him. Both makes had a few yards to spare, too.
As surreal as those kicks were, they should almost be viewed as light work for Bass, who claimed to sink a 71-yarder (!) while practicing last week.
In four years at Georgia Southern, Bass knocked down 54 of 68 field goal attempts (79.41%) with a long of 50 yards. Those stats and these highlights suggests that he has the leg to make it as an NFL kicker.
We'd like to see how he fares in glacial conditions and 300-pound linemen charging at him, but these kicks certainly bode well for his chances at nabbing the starting job as a rookie.
