3 Worst-Case Scenarios for the New Orleans Saints in 2020

The last three seasons for the New Orleans Saints have not been ideal. Dominate regular seasons have ended in disappointing playoff exits as the window for a Super Bowl may be nearing its end. The 2020 NFL campaign is bound to be another successful one for the Saints, but three situations may push them the playoff curb once again.

Fans in the Big Easy are surely hoping none of these come to fruition.

3. Malcom Jenkins' Return Fails to Make an Immediate Impact

After a successful start to his career in New Orleans, Malcolm Jenkins is making a return the Saints after signing with the team this offseason. An impact player in his early years and even more so with the Eagles, the Saints need Jenkins to deliver early and often and bring some of his championship pedigree back to New Orleans. If he doesn't this secondary is in BIG trouble.

2. Larry Warford's Departure Kills Offensive Line

Despite three Pro Bowl seasons with the Saints, Larry Warford finds himself as a free agent this offseason after the team released him to save some money. While incoming draft pick Cesar Ruiz is set to fill the void as New Orleans looks to adapt to an increasingly fast league, Warford's departure could spell bad news for an offense that has been explosive in recent years. After all, continuity up front is always tremendously important while incorporating rookies and other new faces takes time.

1. Alvin Kamara's Struggles Continue

When Alvin Kamara entered the fray in 2017 alongside Mark Ingram, the Saints developed a lethal running combination. With Ingram on the sideline to start 2018, Kamara blew up, scoring 18 total touchdowns and logging a career-high 883 rushing yards. But then came 2019. Kamara seemed to have lost some of his explosiveness and found the end zone just six times in addition to recording a career-low 533 receiving yards. And with the loss of Warford, it's possible Kamara doesn't entirely get back on track, which would be devastating for the offense.
